Open to members and non-members. All competitors and grooms must adhere to VHS Rules in all circumstances. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification.

 

VHS Regional Final qualification. All competitors placed 1st to 4th in each age category will qualify for the corresponding class at VHS Regional Finals. Members must have their showing card signed by the judge in the ring as proof of qualification. Non-members will receive a red qualification card which can be exchanged for signed showing card when applying for VHS membership. Regional Finals are open to members only.

 

Young Rider Championship qualification. A Young Rider rosette and qualification will be awarded to the young rider of the Judge’s choice, entitling them to enter the Young Rider Championship at the National Veteran Open Championships. This award is given at the Judge’s discretion.

 

 

 

All competitors are eligible to enter open classes at the National Veteran Open Championships, 23rd – 25th September. No qualification or membership necessary. See VHS website for schedule.

RoR  Jockey Club Novice Show Series  Qualifier 2016

 

The RoR Jockey Club Novice Ridden Show Horse Class

 

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4years old or over, any height.  Rider must be 15 years or over on 1st January. To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won an open class (inc SEIB/HOYS, RoR Tattersalls Show Series Qualifier, TARRA, or any other open class except RoR TBA Challenge Show Series classes.

 

Horses will be de-noviced after 3 novice wins or any open win, but is still eligible to compete at the RoR Aintree show that August.

 

Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle.   Horses should be plaited.  The first three go forward to the championship at the Aintree National Showing Show August 2016 or 2017 for shows 10th August 2016 to 10th  August 2017.   All entries MUST be registered with with the ROR and have RACED in GB.    The class will be run under the rules of RoR.  Horses will NOT be ridden by the judge; each horse to complete an individual show or no longer than 1 ½ minutes to include the following movements: Walk, Trot, Canter showing change of leg, extended canter, halt and stand, walk off on long rein. Horses will be stripped for conformation. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse’s last run in a race (NH or Flat) should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly.  Competitors must wear a safety/kite mark hard hat with a chinstrap.  Racing injuries and blemishes are NOT ignored in this series.

 

Prizes (Rosette and Vouchers (1-4th): 1st £50 plus voucher for jacket, 2nd £25, 3rd £20, 4th £10.

 

Hope Pastures ‘Rescued and Rehomed’ Series

 

This class is open to any rescued equine. As well as official rescues, this includes those which have been abandoned, obtained or bought in a neglected/maltreated state, and those saved from being destroyed by re-training. The equine may have been rescued by a charity then re-homed with their current family. Entries should include brief details of the equine’s history. ‘Before’ photos would be useful but not essential.     Judging will be based on confidence, manners, condition and performance in company and in an individual show not exceeding 2 minutes. Judging will take account of the improvement in the animal since rescue.  The 3 highest placed equines qualify for the Championship Final in October.

 

The Final will be a virtual Final for 2016 and the winner will be announced on 15th October. Only qualified equines may be entered. Class  4 - The Jockey Club RoR Novice Thoroughbred Ridden Show Horse Class

 

Thoroughbred mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, any height.  To take part in this class, horses must NOT have won any open show class. (RoR, SEIB/HOYS qualifier or any other open show class). Riders must be 15 years or over on 1st January.  Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle.   Horses should be plaited.

MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND

Class 13 – Ridden Small Breeds Mountain & Moorland, Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 year old & over. Registered with their approved Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh Section A or B. Rider any age. N.C.P.A Qualifier

 

Class 14 – Ridden Large Breeds Mountain & Moorland, Stallion, Mare or Gelding, 4 year old & over. Registered with their approved Pure Breed Society Stud Books of Connemara, Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Welsh Section  C or D. Rider any age.  N.C.P.A Qualifier

 

Class 15 – In Hand Mixed Breeds Mountain & Moorland, Stallion, Mare or Gelding, any age. Registered with their approved Pure Breed Society Stud Books

 

 

 

UNAFFILIATED CLASSES – MAIN SHOWGROUND RING

 

Starting at 9am.

Open to all horses & ponies & riders of all ages. Horses and ponies will not be judged on conformation.

 

• Classes are open to plaited and unplaited Horses/Ponies

 

• Stallions to be kept under control at ALL times and not to be led or ridden by children under 16 years.

 

Class 16 - Tack and Turnout open to horses/ponies, riders any age.

 

Class 17 - Equitation class. Judged on style, control and effectiveness in all three paces.

 

Class 18 – Hope Pastures ‘Rescued and Rehomed - This class is open to any rescued horse, pony, donkey or mule.  In hand or ridden

 

Class 19 - Horse or Pony the judge would most like to take home.
